What is CNC milling?
CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control. In other words, CNC machines are computer controlled. Our CNC machines are used to makes various finished products from metals such as aluminium, stainless steel, steel, bronze, brass, and titanium – as well as all the derivative alloys – and plastic. Because we use CNC milling machines, our CNC specialists spend their valuable time programming the machines to ‘teach’ them how to make a product. Then the precision CNC milling machines, assisted by machine tending robots, manufacture the products 24/7.
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and CAD/CAM
CNC milling machines are computer controlled machines. Those computers must be programmed properly, and that is where the knowledge and experience of our Nedinsco staff comes into play. Our employees understand how important quality is to our clients. They have extensive experience setting up these machines and use the latest CAD/CAM software.
Nedinsco has 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC milling machines
With 5-axis milling we are able to manipulate the cutting tool in five axes during the machining process. An advantage of 5-axis CNC milling is that fewer set-up steps are required. This significantly reduces the risk of loss of precision. After all, error is likely introduced each time a product is re-mounted. A good example of where this is important is a product with details that have tolerances with respect to each other. Such products are best ‘done in one’. By simultaneously controlling the five axes, it is also possible to mill free forms. 5-axis CNC milling in combination with robotic loading provides a highly accurate and efficient machining method.
